Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Boeing recently released the following video of their 787-9 Dreamliner’s flight crew rehearsing their air performance for the 2014 Farnborough air show. While one would expect the flight demonstration for a commercial wide-body airliner to be relatively tame, the 787 is flown in surprisingly aggressive fashion with some likening its performance to that of an F-16.

Boeing 787-9 DreamlinerKnown more recently for delays related to the development program, the 787 is a clean sheet program that redefined many areas of commercial aircraft design through its extensive use of composites and advanced materials. With its Rolls Royce Trent 1000 or General Electric GenX engines, the aircraft achieves a 20% increase in fuel efficiency yet still displays some pretty impressive performance qualities. Watch below as the flight crew puts the 787 through its paces, including a maximum performance take-off followed by some aggressive but graceful flying.
